LONDON--Lebron James scored eighteen points, had seven rebounds and seven assists in their game against Argentina. Now they will go against Spain for the gold-medal game. It was a 108-83 victory over Argentina. The U.S. is 6-1 all-time against that opponent, with their only loss in the semifinals of Athens 2004. USA is 17-2 all-time in the Olympic Semifinal games.
"Anything less than this would have been unsatisfying for us." Carmelo Anthony said. "We believe that we can get here, and we're here now. We got one game left." Kevin Durant scored a London game-high with nineteen, while Anthony tallied eighteen. The U.S. stay perfect at London. "You have three scorers on this team who get blistering hot if they make two shots in a row," said Kobe Bryant, playing in his second Olympics. "I've never seen anything like it." Spain can't let the U.S. get on a run. Or they're done.
Manu Ginobili had 18 points, while Carlos Delfino and Luis Scola pitched in 15 each. In 20 days, Argentina has lost to the U.S. three times, and also in the past 3 Olympic Semifinals. Argentina will pay Russia a visit, playing for the bronze medal. After the 20 points in the second half against Australia, Kobe came out on fire, with 11 of America's first 18 points to help build an 18-6 lead on Argentina. Argentina had the next 9 points, and pulled between three. At the end of the first quarter, it was 24-19.
Kevin Loves layup gave his teammates a 10 point lead late in the second quarter, but Ginobili buried a three-pointer in the corner as the halftime buzzer rang.
To open the second half, Manu Ginobili made another triple to make it a four point game, but Durant capped an 11-2 surge with a three of his own. With just over six minutes left in the third quarter, the lead was 59-46. In the fourth, the U.S. were in complete control. Carmelo put it away with three consecutive three-pointers, and pressed the margin to 93-64. They continued to breeze through the rest of the game. A Beijing rematch it will be, when the United States topped Spain to claim the gold medal.
Team USA will play against the defending silver medalist(Spain) Sunday 10am ET/8am CT
